Psychological Associate

MindWise Psychological Services is a clinical psychology practice that provides professional assessment, diagnosis, treatment recommendations, and consultation for individuals with developmental disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders. Our Psychological Associates are all registered with the California Board of Psychology and supervised by a licensed clinical psychologist on our staff. They proudly work with clients of all ages in various communities throughout San Diego and Imperial Counties.

MindWise is excited to add a full-time Psychological Associate position to our team. The Psychological Associate will go through a rigorous training program led by their primary supervisor to develop skills in understanding childhood development and assessment. They will be responsible for conducting comprehensive in-person evaluations for developmental disabilities using current testing measures. The Psychological Associate will also provide accurate diagnoses and thorough clinical reports to help our clients and their families make informed decisions.

Responsibilities
  • Attend regular training activities and meetings with primary supervisor
  • In-person evaluations of neurodevelopmental disorders using current cognitive/IQ tests and autism and adaptive measures (see Qualifications for examples)
  • Consultation with clients’ caretakers, teachers, and outside providers (e.g., therapists, physicians, etc.), and possible school observations
  • Provide accurate clinical diagnoses and write and submit clinical reports in a timely manner
  • Provide sensitive and clear feedback to parents regarding diagnoses
  • Attend internal meetings and trainings (in-person and online)
  • Ensure strict confidentiality of client records and communications
Required Qualifications
  • Some familiarity with cognitive and IQ tests (e.g., Bayley-4, Wechsler IQ tests, etc.), autism measures (e.g., ADOS-2, CARS-2, etc.), and adaptive measures (e.g., Vineland-III); training will be provided by MindWise
  • Excellent report writing skills with careful attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills; ability to write and submit reports in a timely manner
  • Strong rapport-building skills with clients and families
  • Ability to provide clear and sensitive feedback to clients and families regarding diagnostic impressions
  • Ability to establish positive professional relationships with colleagues and outside providers
  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. from an APA-accredited clinical psychology program
  • Registered with the California Board of Psychology
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience administering cognitive and IQ tests (e.g., Bayley-4, Wechsler IQ tests, etc.), autism measures (e.g., ADOS-2, CARS-2, etc.), and adaptive measures (e.g., Vineland-III)
  • Ability to conduct evaluations in Spanish or other non-English languages (e.g., Arabic, Vietnamese, etc.)
  • Familiarity with telehealth assessment
  • Experience assessing for developmental disabilities in any age group

Compensation
  • $60,000 – $72,000 base salary
  • Salary dependent on experience and demonstrated quality of prior clinical evaluations
  • Several opportunities for additional bonuses on top of base salary
Schedule and Location
  • Full-time: 40 hours/week, with bonuses for additional clinical hours
  • Positions are available at offices in Kearny Mesa, Carmel Mountain, National City, and Imperial County (El Centro). Some travel to offsite locations (e.g., schools) will be required.
